About Us

Type 1 diabetes is not an individual disease or condition. When an individual is diagnosed, the whole family is impacted and becomes part of the management system.

Schedules and diets may change to accomodate insulin dosing. Everyone is tuned to signs of high and low sugar (blood glucose) levels. And, everyone feels the stress (though differently for each) of daily injections, counting carbs, preparing for and sometimes dealing with emergencies.

We are a diabetic family, with all of us - parents Eric and Jennifer, grandparents Annette and Will, even close friends, and George who has Type 1 diabetes (see George's Story) - involved.

We wanted to do something to help families like ours. Since one of our first (and ongoing) struggles in coping with Type 1 was food, we thought that developing a series of cookbooks specifically for Type 1 families would be a great way to start.
